Receding hairline or bald edges can really take away from a woman’s beauty. 1. Retire the weaves and wigs

However, if this isn’t an option for you, you can opt for looser wigs and ask your stylists to braid and sew the wig on very loosely.

2. Be Gentle
Hair around the edges are baby hair, and like babies, they are very sensitive and fragile. And so you’ll need to be extra careful with them since they aren’t as resistant and “tough” like the mature hair all over your scalp. This means any general manipulation such as brushing, combing, braiding, detangling and general handling will need to be done with extra care.
3. Treat it like an expensive silk, cashmere or a Louis Vuitton
This point is to emphasize the previous one on handling those edges with care. We all know that there’s a certain way we will carry and handle an expensive item over cheaper ones. So to ensure your edges return from exile and actually stay, I suggest handling those baby hair like an expensive designer brand.
4. Loosen up
Aside from extensions, tight natural hairstyles such as afro puffs, ponytails and tight pin up styles can also be detrimental. Loosening up a bit and ensuring that your afro puffs and pony tails aren’t too tight will ensure that your edges stays where they belong.
For those who like to wear headbands often, I suggest opting for looser and thicker headbands which won’t put too much stress on your edges or pull them off when taken off. You can also opt for silk/satin headwraps or headbands which can easily slide on and off without creating any friction.
The best way to keep your edges in check is by wearing headbands and any hairstyle that puts too much stress on the edges less often. On days when these styles are worn, you want to make sure that you change up your style by taking down the puff or headband after about 3-4 hours so that your edges can relax.

5. Be light
A lot of women like to wear tiny and heavy braids, which can be detrimental to the overall health of our hair. Heavy braids which pulls on the hair can cause our edges to go extinct because the tiny hair strands are being uprooted from the roots, which can also affect the potential growth of new hair. Opting for lighter extensions such as Marley hair and braiding bigger chunks of hair will reduce the tension on the hair, and help to ensure that your edges are not yanked off by those heavy extensions.
