How do you get rid of itchy scalp and dandruff?
Itchy scalp and dandruff are two different problems. Your scalp can be itchy due to various reasons I explained in this post. While dandruff is often a result of a fungal infection on the scalp. It can often be treated with anti-dandruff shampoos and other treatment products such as this Head & Shoulders Clinical Anti-Dandruff Treatment.
Why does my hair itch after getting a protective style?
Nowadays, the majority of hair extensions from China are preserved with strong chemicals that are extremely allergic to our scalp. You would think this should no longer be a problem after so many complaints from Black women, but this is an issue Black women have to deal with.
So to prevent this uncomfortable itch, you should pre-soak your hair extension piece in diluted apple cider vinegar for a few minutes. Then wash with shampoo to remove the strong smell of vinegar. Apply some conditioner on the hair to soften it and hang to dry.
Make sure you are gentle while doing this treatment so that the hair piece doesn’t get tangled and frizzy.
